Away league match played on 07 February 2015.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

It was a cold and wet winters day for Flyers first game for a fortnight but they were fired up from the get go and tried to get straight into their game in the testing conditions. Romford were keen to grab the opening goal and at times grew frustrated from trying without success, however there consistency to create chances was rewarded when Micheal Chapmans corner from the right hand side met the unmarked head of Stephen Claxton who drove it into the back of the net with passion. Flyers were to be caught napping shortly after taking the lead and allowed Old Barkabbeyans to equalise but as they have come to learn this season they dont go down without a fight and as the sleet turned to snow the weather only seemed to fuel Flyers determination to win. Once getting back to there own game, there were some superb passes and Flyers use of the ball was much better. It wasn't long till they began creating chances again. Much like the opening goal a corner from the right again caused caos within the Old Barkabbeyans area and Stephen Claxton found himself unmarked again and was able to poke the ball home for his and Romfords second. Flyers created many chances and probably should of put the game to bed by now although they weren't finishing up top but it was the ball winners all across the pitch shutting down and throwing their bodies on the cold icy floor for the cause. This soon started to rub off on all Romford players who themselves were taking the ball off the opposition easily and turning it into attack, this was the difference between the two sides. Shortly before half time Flyers would go on to make it 3-1 when Stevie T finished in fine style superbly floating the ball from outside the box just dipping beyond the reach of the helpless goalie.

After a short cold half time break and a quick count of fingers and toes, the teams switched ends and kicked on with the second half? Flyers quickly picked up where they had left off forcing pressure on every forward pass, boxing them in and hassling them for possession back. It wasnt long till a spell came where Romford just didnt lose the ball and began to dictate the pace and flow of the game and over running Old Barkabbeyans all over the pitch. After some great work and passing down the left wing, birthday boy Micheal Chapman cut inside from the touchline and with his favoured right foot whipped in a cross, come shot that evaded every player in the area including the goalie and found its self nestled nicely in the bottom right corner of the net putting the icing on the cake. Old Barkabbeyans were beaten and like everyone else probably couldn't wait to get home out the cold however Flyers never gave them a chance in the second half, never allowing them into the game. Romford were determined to stop them if it meant throwing their bodies, backs and even faces on one or two occasions before the ball. Late on Flyers kept the ball well and streched the opposition, enough to allow Rob Ashdown to stroll through the Old Barkabbeyans defense calmly compose his self, send the keeper the wrong way and place the ball perfectly in the left side of the net confirming the three points came home with Flyers and to top of a fantastic well deserved 5-1 win that put Flyers back in top spot for the league title. COYF!!!
