Away friendly match played on 18 August 2013.
Kicked off at 11:00 AM

This was definately one for the neutral. 12 goals, 4 penalties, woodwork hit 3 times, 3 bookings, a dodgy ref and a offside goal.

Rose and Crown made the short trip to South Normanton to take on Alfreton league outfit Boundary Athletic. In my 7 years of running this club i have never witnessed a more crazy game than this one.

Rose started the brighter but Boundary always looked a threat on the break with their lone striker. It was Rose who broke the deadlock Ben scoring his sixth goal in 3 games, this time from the penalty spot. Boundary replied soon after to make the score 1-1. After a good ball from Wila the ball broke kindly for Pakie to score after the home keeper had saved from Ben. Simon nearly doubled Rose's lead but his thunderbolt shot was supberly tipped onto the bar, Ben also hit the woodwork, this time it was the post that came to the rescue for the home side.

Then just before half-time Boundary were back on level terms after Wila had handled inside the box.

A couple of changes at half-time saw Craig replaced by Calan and Dave coming on for Dale on the right side of midfield. Rose made it 3-2 shortly after the re-start when Smithy headed a Callum corner into the back of the net. However a bad period soon followed for Rose and we conceded twice in short succession, one of these goals was a blatent offside, the player must have been at least 15 yards offside when the ball was played, Dale who was running the line was not even watching the game so the ref gave the goal! Dec also saved a penalty after the home striker was hauled down by Smithy, who received a yellow card for his troubles. Pakie and a Boundary player got booked for having a bit of a pushing contest.

At 4-3 down Rose began to build again and Callum show magnificent skill on the Left wing to skip past 2 defenders and set his brother up, Dave to score from 18 yards out. Dave also skimmed the top of the bar from distance. Winty put Rose back in front from the spot after this time a Boundary player was adjudged to have handled the ball. And Dave made it 6-4 with 12 minutes to go after a solo goal which saw him hit the back of the net from outside the area.

Brad was replaced by Dale for the final stages of the game. At this point Rose hit the self-destruct button and conceded 2 more sloppy goals.

The game finished 6-6. Rose and Crown FC should be beating teams of this standard if they are wanting to have a successful season, and we must start cutting out silly mistakes. We attack as a team but we also need to defend as a team. The formation that we are playing means everyone needs to work at their positions in order to win games.

MOM - Callum, a great attacking display from the youngster and showed great skill and pace when taking players on. Just needs to work on tracking back a bit more when the opposition has the ball but this was only his second game for the club and he is fitting in well.
