Home league match played on 08 January 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

The game today was played on a cool morning but the overnight rain had made the pitch soft in places. It was good to get the lads playing again after a month without a game.

Bramford started well and put the lads under pressure they had their first shot on 5 but it was over the bar, Ed had a shot at the other end a minute later but it was just wide. Then on 7 Bramford opened the scoring after a long ball forward and Finchy had the chance to clear it but being a bit rusty his clearance fell to the Bramford striker he hit it well but Jack saved the 1st shot and seemed to get his feet stuck in the mud the Bramford striker reacted 1st to poke it in to the open goal. It wasn't until the 17th minute that Sax had another shot and that was from Fish but unfortunately it was wide. The lads started to wake up and Ed broke in to the box but a great last minute tackle from a defender put the ball out for a corner. The corner came in and Sax had about 3 shots that would not go in. We won another corner and Bramford broke away but Kyle tracked the run all the way and all that came from it was a corner. Luke managed to clear the ball off the line and keep us in it. On 25 Sax won a penalty after Ed was fouled Arron stepped up and as usual he slotted it in to even the scores. The lads were getting more in to the game and pushing hard for the 2nd from a goal kick the Bramford Keeper went down and it turned out that he pulled his groin, Hope it is not too bad for him and he will be fit again soon. Rossi played a ball across to Ed he laid it to Arron but his shot hit the post. The lads were well on top in the game and it looked more likely that we were going to get the next goal, The goal came on 35 and what a goal it was Ed laid the ball to Tom who played a great ball to Arron who then played it in to Ben to tuck it in to the back of the net to take the lead. Sax were not done for the 1st half and Sam played a fantastic ball to Ed in the area he took a touch and curled it wide of the keeper to make it Sax 3 – 1 Bramford at half time. We started slow but grew in to the game more and more as it went on.

The same team went out for the start the 2nd half and Jack was called in to action after 3 minutes but had no problems this time the game was pretty open and with the wind picking up and on the sax lads backs we were pushing hard for the goal to finish the game off, Arron looked like he was going to get it but he hit the bar this time a great effort. Bramford had a good chance to score but the ever dependable Tom got in a vital block. The next chance came on 49 Ed was in to the box and through on goal but he got a shove in the back and the ref pointed at the spot he could have given a red but must have been feeling generous. Arron stepped up again and put it in to make it Sax 4 – 1 Bramford. Rossi was looking tired so Connor went on and was told by his grandad that if he didn't try hard enough he was walking home (he got a lift). Ben and Ed both hit the post and Sax were doing well. George Went on for Ben and was told to get on and enjoy it he had a great chance to score after he beat 4 players and got through on goal but his shot was something only he could do and he put it over. Bramford had a few more opportunities but their best one was again blocked by Tom.

A great performance and a deserved win that the lads worked hard for, credit to Bramford who had a real go and never made it easy for us they are a good team and the lads had to be at their bets to win this one. It was hard coming in to the game after a month off and hopefully with a couple of more games we will be back up to speed and keep getting the points on the board.

Well done

David
