TORNADOES V SAX
The game against the Tornadoes was played at Farlingaye High School with the pitch being muddy in places after some heavy rain in the week.
The game started off with both teams trying to work each other out and not too much goal mouth action.  Sax had their 1st shot on 5 and from the goal kick the keeper strained his groin.  A reserve keeper appeared and it was to prove a crucial substitution.  On 9 minutes Sax had another attack and the keeper saved it got it out quickly to their right side, the winger made a quick run down the wing put a great ball in for the striker to poke it past Jack.  Tornadoes 1 - 0 Sax.  Sax were being put under constant pressure but still making a few chances.  On 20 minutes Ed won the ball in midfield played it wide to Rossi who cut in beat the defender but put it into the side netting, a good chance gone.  Sax were pushing for an equaliser but it would not come as the Tornadoes players were showing why they finish high up the table most seasons with some strong tackles and then good passes when they won the ball.  Sam had a free kick on the edge of the area but put it along the ground for an easy clearance.  Then on 23 minutes we won a free kick 40 yards from goal.  The lads called on Ryan to have a shot he stepped up and hit a beauty that looked top corner all the way, out of nowhere the keeper jumped up and made an outstanding save to equal the shot.  The resulting corner brought out another good save from the keeper.  Tornadoes had another break away but this time Jack made a good save from point blank range to keep us in it.  Towards the end of the half Rossi done well down the right played a ball in Ed shot it over the keeper but unfortunately it went just over.  The half time whistle went and the lads at the back had done well with some great last ditch tackles.  The most danger was coming down our left and Kris worked hard to keep them out.  Tom kept it simple on the right and we were comfortable on that side.
HALF TIME - TORNADOES 1 - 0 SAX
The 2nd half started as we had left off with the Tornadoes winning balls and passing well but the Sax lads passes have been better in recent games so we can play better.  After some even play Tornadoes got a free kick on the edge of the area.  The 1st shot was blocked unfortunately it fell to the Tornadoes player whose shot went through a crowd and left Jack unsighted.  Tornadoes 2 - 0 Sax.  The lads kept going but Tornadoes kept us under pressure.  Sam saved us when he cleared off the line after a player beat Jack.  Sax kept going but it was not until the 70th minute after some good play from Connor that Ed got us 1 back with a good finish under pressure.  Tornadoes 2 - 1 Sax.  We kept pushing but the equaliser wouldn’t come.  The game finished Tornadoes 2 - 1 sax.
Although it is disappointing to lose 2 - 1, we were playing against a good team when we were below par is no disgrace and we will not play badly in all our games against the top teams we need to work on keeping the ball a bit better and not wasting possession but we can do that if we play to our best.
Another tough game next week but we are at home and hopefully can play to the same level that we did against Felixstowe & Walton.
A good effort but today we were beaten by the better team.
