Home league match played on 30 October 2010.

Ratings this week is from Wince “Avram Grant”, but match commentary by yours truly (sorry I’m s**t).

Spirits were high at the start of the game, knowing it’s been a while since Brumby have had a poor a team as this - they were going to have a good beating for once. The game started and 5 minutes in, it was slack defending by yours truly who let Mdogga score from 5 yeards from a corner. Midfield is where control was trying to be won, and the new central midfield pairing of Jim and Fowler, was up against a little and large from Brumby. They made a couple of good breaks through midfiled, only to find our new defensive midfielder Fowler tracking back, taking the ball and getting a punch thrown at him the contest – My god it did mess up his face! Slog as per usual didn’t see anything, but the new linesman Dave “Clattenburg” Kempshall didn’t miss this one. Red card your off son. You would of thought this was all the determination that we needed, 1-0 down against 10 men, but it didn’t entirely work. Brumby put 10 men behing ball and the Scuns long ball only kept finding Mdogga’s head. Short passes to each other worked well, until we got to the edge of the box, where we ran out of idea’s.

Second half was much of the same. We brought Dave “clattenburg” Kempshall on, who showed us how good he was feeling with the best pass of the game – slicing the ball out for a throw. With 10 men behind the ball we struggled to find the quick passing and pace that can be seen down in West common Lane on a Wednesday. Plenty of room in defence to make the passes, but we couldn’t make it hold upfront, or even get it there! Wince found his beans near the end again, and after a good run found himself alone in the box, far post only to pass it back to their keeper. Final whistle blew and very disappointing to see we lost 1-0 (my fault for letting them score with one of the only shots they had!). If only someone had mentioned to Slog to stop his watch when the ball went out, we would have had more time!

Dean Windass says – “Next week you need to speed the play up a little, pass and move, pass and move, find the space and the pass is easy”
