Sisonke Academy Seniors hosted Titanic at Dundee on 12 April 2026, kicking off at 3:00pm in a highly charged league encounter. The match ended in a 5-3 defeat for Sisonke Academy Seniors after a pulsating 90 minutes of football, with both sides showing attacking intent but Titanic ultimately prevailing.

Sisonke Academy Seniors lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, deploying Thando Nxumalo in goal. The defensive line consisted of Kwanda Zulu at right back, Mzodumo Mhlongo and Philane Nigel as central defenders, and Mzwandile Madondo on the left. Thobani Ndlovu operated as the lone defensive midfielder shielding the back four. Ahead of him, Siphesihle Mdakane took up the right attacking midfield role while Njabulo Mchunu occupied the left attacking midfield position. The front three featured Caslin Mncwangi on the right wing, Anotha Zulu as the central striker, and Ayanotha Majola on the left wing. The substitutes available for tactical or injury changes were Lakhiwe Zwane, Kwanele Dlamini, Amukelani Zulu, Khethelo Sithebe, and Sifisokuhle Dlamini.

The match burst into life within the opening minutes. In the second minute, an early own goal gifted Titanic the lead, with Mzwandile Madondo’s intervention inadvertently putting the ball into his own net. The left back was then shown a yellow card just a minute later, adding to Sisonke’s early woes. However, Sisonke responded immediately as Kwanele Dlamini, who had come on as a substitute, converted a penalty in the third minute following an assist from Sifisokuhle Dlamini, levelling the scoreline.

Titanic regained the lead in the eighth minute with a well-taken goal, and extended their advantage further in the 15th minute, putting Sisonke on the back foot. Tactical changes began to unfold for Sisonke at the half-hour mark when Lakhiwe Zwane replaced Caslin Mncwangi, signalling a shift in approach. Just before the interval, injury forced another substitution as Kwanele Dlamini came on for the injured Njabulo Mchunu, while Amukelani Zulu also entered the fray for Siphesihle Mdakane in a tactical switch.

At half-time, the scoreline reflected Titanic’s dominance but Sisonke remained competitive. Early in the second half, Kwanele Dlamini stepped up once more to convert a penalty in the 50th minute, assisted by Lakhiwe Zwane, bringing renewed hope to the home side. However, Titanic struck back swiftly with two goals in the 51st minute, reasserting their control over the contest.

Sisonke’s troubles continued when goalkeeper Thando Nxumalo was forced off injured in the 55th minute, replaced by Khethelo Sithebe between the sticks. A minute later, Sifisokuhle Dlamini came on for Anotha Zulu in a tactical substitution aimed at injecting fresh energy into the attack.

Despite the setbacks, Sisonke fought back and pulled a goal back in the 71st minute through Lakhiwe Zwane, who powered home a close-range header from a precise cross by Ayanotha Majola. This goal sparked a late surge, but Titanic held firm to secure a 5-3 victory.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions with Sisonke Academy Seniors showing resilience and attacking verve but ultimately being undone by defensive lapses and a potent Titanic attack. The tactical substitutions and penalty conversions kept Sisonke in the contest, but the early own goal and quick-fire strikes from Titanic proved decisive in this high-scoring affair.
