Away league match played on 12 April 2014.
Kicked off at 2:30 PM

Goal 1-0 Smithswood were quickly into the game. Else made a quality tackle in the middle of the park and threaded an inch perfect ball to Wall who outpaced defender and slotted away calmly. As a celebration he dropped a Sturridge in the corner. Pure quality

Fantasy Update: Goal Wall, Assist Else

Short goes close from a bullet Sayer corner but it goes just over the bar

Cogger and Wall work a chance on the edge of the box and Else just fires over the bar.

Evans hits a 25 yard cross field ball to Thomas who slides in Glenn but his cross is blocked. Great move from Smithswood. Village break down the other end and a goal line scramble is blocked by Thompson and his defence and the danger averted.

Smithswood have the next chance as Short puts Wall through. He holds it up and slots Thomas in but his shot is blocked for a corner.

Cogger plays the ball into Wall's feet, he spins and knocks it over the defender to Thomas whose cross is met by Cogger but he heads just over. More chances for Smithswood. Lets just hope they don't come back to haunt them at the end of the game.

Sayer worked tirelessly both attacking and defending and was really causing them problems down the right wing beating his man and getting plenty of crosses in.

Village started coming more into the game in the last 15 minutes of the half. Smithswood lost possession from the keepers throw but the striker fired over and just wide of the empty goal. A scramble at the back left Thompson winded after a clash with his own defender but they still kept them out. Wall started tracking back to help out defensively as Smithswood were on the back foot.

40 mins  Treadwell booked for reacting to a tackle he didnt agree with and faking to headbutt his opponent

The game got a bit niggly with decisions going against Smithswood and manager Ryder having an ongoing battle with both the linesmane and referee. Wall then broke from midfield and hit Clogger who slipped it in to Else who played Thomas in first time. Else carried on his run and got the ball back but couldn't create a chance. Better football though using Walls pace and one touch passing.

Half Time 1-0 Smithswood

It was a tight start to the second half with few chances for either side. Village had a long range shot which needed air traffic control clearance to land and Else put Wall through wide left but his cross was cleared to safety.

Anderson came on for Wall four minutes into the second half, Short picked up a yellow card for talking back to the ref a few minutes later and Harris replaced Cogger just after.

GOAL 1-1 Smithswood's worse fears for missing the chances in the first half were realised on 63 minutes when a Village corner was headed in at the near post as they got ahead of the defender.

Ryder made his last sub bringing Mayers on for Short who was struggling with a toe injury.

Village missed an open goal as they attacked down the left as Smithswood were all over the place

88 mins Ryder got in to trouble as he was having an ongoing argument with the linesman all second half as he tried to explain the throw in rule to him. The linesman had finally had enough and spent three minutes flagging the referee who eventually asked Ryder to remove himself away from the pitch. He duly obliged and moved 10 feet further back

Final score 1-1

Mayers was sent off after the whistle for calling the linesman something he didn't agree with
