Soccer For All (SFA) welcomed Valiente CF to the University of Ibadan on 27 June 2026 for a friendly 11-a-side encounter, kicking off at 3:00pm. The home side emerged triumphant with a 3-1 victory, thanks to a commanding hat-trick from striker Akorede Obatuyi. The match lasted the standard 90 minutes plus injury time, providing an entertaining contest between the two teams.
SFA deployed a classic 4-3-3 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking flair. Tomiwa Babalola guarded the goal, supported by a back four consisting of Toki Tundealao at right back, central defenders David Jay-Jay and Obinna Kingsley, and Michael Olanrewaju on the left. The midfield trio featured Frank Onyeka on the right, Afeez Akeem centrally, and Adewale Gbogboade on the left, tasked with linking defence and attack. Up front, Williams Frederick operated on the right wing, Akorede Obatuyi led the line as the central striker, and Emmanuel Okedigba took up the left forward role. The substitutes available were Ohunrere Adegbulugbe and Tayo Akintola.
The match began with SFA asserting control through their midfield and wide players, looking to create chances for Obatuyi. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Obatuyi found the net, capitalising on a well-worked move to give the hosts the lead. This goal set the tone for the remainder of the first half, with SFA pressing high and Valiente CF struggling to find rhythm.
As the first half neared its conclusion, SFA made a tactical substitution in the 42nd minute, bringing on Ohunrere Adegbulugbe to replace Williams Frederick on the right wing. This change injected fresh energy into the attack just before the interval.
Immediately following this, in the 43rd minute, Obatuyi doubled his tally from the penalty spot, calmly converting to extend SFA’s advantage. This penalty goal was a crucial moment, giving the home side a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into half time.
The teams went into the break with SFA firmly in control, leading 2-0. The second half began with another substitution from SFA as Tayo Akintola replaced central midfielder Afeez Akeem in the 49th minute, signalling a shift in midfield dynamics.
Despite Valiente CF pulling one goal back during the second half, it was Obatuyi who once again made the decisive impact. In the 67th minute, he completed his hat-trick with a clinical finish, restoring SFA’s two-goal cushion and effectively sealing the victory.
Throughout the match, SFA’s 4-3-3 formation allowed them to dominate possession and create numerous chances, with Obatuyi’s movement and finishing proving too much for the Valiente defence. The defensive unit, marshalled by Jay-Jay and Kingsley, kept the visitors largely at bay, while the midfield and wide players provided both defensive cover and attacking support.
In the end, the home side’s tactical discipline and clinical edge in front of goal ensured a convincing 3-1 win over Valiente CF in this friendly encounter at the University of Ibadan.
