An outstanding double hat-trick from Aaron gave the Saints an emphatic 6-2 victory in front of the onlooking Berlin up spying on the Black Cats. The Team where hit with a blow on the morning of the game with news that Boot had still not recovered from Winky falling on him and squashing his ribs last week, with big Simon also unavailable we had to shuffle the pack a bit, in came Dede (the cat) for Simon and we pushed Winky up front to partner Aaron. I barely had time to zip my jacket up in the Baltic conditions when we went 1-0 up, a through ball from Tommy, yes a through ball not a hoof, into the 68ths box was missed by there defender but  not by Aaron as he lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper 1-0 to the Saints, a minute later Aaron got his second latching onto a pass from Winky to fire us into a 2-0 lead, on 10 minutes it was 3-0 in what must be the quickest hat-trick in old boys history as Aaron cracked in a beauty from all of 20 yards out, 68th didn’t know what hit them that was until Dede Morrison decided to take it literally and thought he’d do an Amir Khan throwing a few decent right hooks at there playmaker before being separated, that seemed to unsettle us a bit as 68th pulled a goal back on 22 minutes firing into the top corner giving the cat no chance, that gave us a wake up a goal as we got back to doing what we are best at, playing football, half an hour gone and Aaron broke free into 68th box and unselfishly fired across goal for Gazza whose shot was blocked, then it was Gazzas turn to return the favour in similar circumstances once again free in there box and decided to cross for Aaron rather than shoot himself as once again they blocked his shot, Aaron was put through again by Gazza just before half time this time he made no mistake as he found himself one on one with the keeper and there was only gonna be one winner of that tussle, half time 4-1. We came out for the second half with calmer heads after an eventful first half as we settled into our stride, Winky had the first effort of the half when he had a free kick on the edge of there box but fired his shot into the wall, Lawerence put Winky in again but his shot was saved as Aaron missed the rebound, 68th had a go on the hour mark but Dede the cat saved well pushing the effort onto the post, Dede  the pussy then decided to do his coco the clown routine juggling the ball on the goal line then dropping in before pulling it out of the mud before it crossed the line, Aaron then made it 5-1 picking up a pass from Lawerence and slotting the ball into the corner of the net, Aaron was put in again picking up a pass from Geordie to find himself one on one again with the keeper but there keeper made a fine save on this occasion,  68th went up the other end and as Dede was left helpless there striker looked sure to score but Stuarty made a quite brilliant goal line clearance, Aaron then got his and the teams sixth of the game 5 mins from time as Winky headed the ball to him and he slammed the ball home to make it 6-1, 68th pulled a goal back in the last minute when there forward scored from an offside position to make the final score 6-2 to the Saints who go marching on in pursuit of the league title. Next week sees us in cup action as we travel to Loughside to face York Road B in round 2 of the Nicholl Cup, hope to see everyone at training on Wednesday, includes you big Si, as we need to keep our fitness level up to face the challenges ahead!
