Home friendly match played on 08 May 2016.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

A scorching sunny day and STC playing in black…… It was always going to be difficult given the conditions, but that was compounded by the oppositions decision to play a kid, when they had proper vets on the bench. Disgraceful, and as Crabby pointed out after, in future, we will refuse to play if opposition insist on playing youngsters when they have vets on the sidelines. Added to that the youngsters attitude was shocking and when confronted at half time, his answer ‘We want to win and if you can get away with it……’ Wanker. A good player and he won the game for Belvedere, well the kid and the cheating twat of a linesman, but still doesn’t change the fact you must be a sad individual if you get your kicks out of playing against people 30 years your senior. This writer was just gutted the bald fireman didn’t manage to snap him in the later stages, although a couple of efforts were not far off the mark.

So to the game, With Roberts, Hooky, the Headmaster and Little Scott all missing it was called to bring in the troops, Josh came out of his crack den for the first time in a while and Axey out aside his bus pass leaving Jordan in goal, Deano and Rob full backs, Baldy & Omelette at the back, Axey on the right Sheggs left, Gav (at last) in the middle with Dolby and Slim and crabby up front. Leaving Josh, who was late as always, on the bench.

STC started well and dominated from the start, albeit the oppositions School kid was a constant threat and STC looked vulnerable against the quick break, but who wouldn’t when given 30 years to your opponent.

STC were 1 down when they failed to deal with a cross from the right (Rob was on the floor and the oppo refused to put the ball out) and Jordan should have done better after getting a hand to the header. Crabby put STC level after being put in by Slim and should have out STC ahead but could not finish 1 on 1, when again, put through by Slim. STC went 2-1 behind before Sheggs beat the keeper at his near posts from 20 yards, great strike 2-2 and that was it for the half.

The second half started poorly for STC who soon were behind, Steve air kicked, which left the GCSE student straight in on goal and he cooly finished, lobbing Jordan who was a little slow coming off his line. STC were further behind when the primary School kid broke down the left and somehow managed to lift the ball over Jordan and in off the bac post, great finish and not bad from a 10 year old.

Next cue Crabby. After trying few times over the past week as Omelette pointed out, Crabby spotted the keeper off his line and hit a 45 yard screamer after good work from Josh, who impressed on his return. Great goal Crabby.

STC again went behind to make it 4-3 after the toddler fed his strike partner to finish well. Slim though he had brought things back level again, Dolby played a pearler into Slim’s feet on the penalty spot, who took a touch before slotting in the corner. 4-4. But wait. The cheating fucker of a linesman/manager decided to flag for offside, albeit with Sheggs and the number 9 on the 6 yard line playing Slim on by 4 yards. Shocking, and typical of a team that want to play kids in nappies and have a cheat for a manager. Get a life Belvedere. With Slim remonstrating let’s put it, even the oppo defenders said it was not offside. Shocking, simply shocking.

There was still time for the newborn baby to set up a 5th for Belvedere who ended up 5-3 winners. I cannot write worthy as they were not. Take away a cheating CӣT on the line and YTS trainee who scored 3 and made 2, it would have been a different result on a level playing field.

Oh well, there was lots of beer and sun after. Shout outs for Sheggs performance but Crabby gets the MOM for that wonder strike and lets just forget about Jordans attempt to punch the ball……
