On 19 April 2026, Stoneygate Lion Juniors welcomed Quorn Juniors U14 Hounds to Judgemeadow Community College for a 70-minute league home match kicking off at 10:30am. The hosts delivered a commanding performance, running out comfortable 8-0 winners in an emphatic display of attacking football.
Stoneygate Lion Juniors lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, deploying Neo Routledge in goal behind a back four of Will Fay at right back, Alfie Roberts and Priyan Purshottam as central defenders, and Hamza Mukadam at left back. The midfield featured Oscar Pickering on the right flank, central midfielders Veer Purshottam and Harvyn Purewal, and Javyn Purewal on the left. Kabir Sian operated just behind the lone striker, Will Neilson, tasked with leading the line. This setup promised a balanced approach with defensive solidity from the back four, midfield control, and creative support for the striker from the attacking midfielder.
The substitutes named were Dylan Atkins, Isaac Liburd, Charlie Marley, and Hugo Harding.
The scoring began early in the first half when Will Neilson opened the floodgates in the 16th minute. Kabir Sian delivered a precise long pass into the box, which Neilson expertly finished with his right foot from close range. Just three minutes later, Priyan Purshottam doubled the lead, capitalising on a short pass from Neilson to slot home another close-range finish with his right foot inside the box.
Stoneygate’s dominance continued as Neilson struck again in the 32nd minute. This time, a short pass from left midfielder Javyn Purewal set him up for a clinical right-footed finish inside the box. Two minutes later, Purshottam added his second goal of the match with a powerful header from a free kick delivered by Neilson, further extending the lead before half time.
At the 35-minute mark, the referee blew for half time with Stoneygate comfortably ahead 4-0.
The second half began with a flurry of tactical substitutions from Stoneygate. Isaac Liburd replaced Kabir Sian, Charlie Marley came on for Hamza Mukadam, Hugo Harding replaced Will Fay, and Dylan Atkins took over from Oscar Pickering, all at the 36th minute mark. These changes injected fresh legs and maintained the team’s intensity.
Will Neilson completed his hat-trick in the 43rd minute, tapping in a close-range finish following a long pass from central midfielder Harvyn Purewal. Neilson’s movement and finishing were pivotal throughout the match, earning him the player of the match accolade.
Further substitutions followed in the second half with Kabir Sian returning to replace Neilson in the 53rd minute, Will Fay coming back on for Veer Purshottam at 55 minutes, Oscar Pickering replacing Javyn Purewal at 59 minutes, and Hamza Mukadam returning for Harvyn Purewal at 61 minutes, all tactical decisions to maintain control and energy.
The goals kept coming as Alfie Roberts volleyed home a close-range strike in the 63rd minute, assisted by Dylan Atkins’ short pass. Moments later, Isaac Liburd scored a stunning long-range strike from outside the box, finishing with his right foot after a short pass from goalkeeper Neo Routledge.
The scoring spree was capped off in the 67th minute when Hamza Mukadam converted a close-range tap-in from a corner delivered by Alfie Roberts, rounding off a comprehensive 8-0 victory for Stoneygate Lion Juniors.
This dominant performance showcased Stoneygate’s attacking prowess and tactical flexibility, with Neilson’s clinical finishing and Purshottam’s defensive contributions standing out.
