Temple Villa FC travelled to Timahoe to face T&S Utd in a cup away match on 21 March 2026, kicking off at 10:30am. The contest lasted 60 minutes plus added time, with Temple Villa emerging victorious by two goals to one in a tightly fought encounter.
Temple Villa lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Sam Mellet in goal. The defensive line featured James Dullea at right back, Ryan Mahon and Dan Dwyer as central defenders, and Cian Buckley on the left. In midfield, Darragh Nee and Oliver Cooney operated as the two central midfielders, tasked with both defensive duties and linking play. Ahead of them, Harry Donlon occupied the right attacking midfield role, Christopher Coyle played centrally behind the striker, and Tom Adamson took up the left attacking midfield position. Leading the line was Andrew Fitzpatrick as the lone striker, expected to spearhead attacks and convert chances. The substitutes bench included Reuben Davis, Tiernan O’Shaughnessy, James O’Grady, James Henson, and Luke McCrossan.
The match burst into life almost immediately with Temple Villa taking the lead in the 2nd minute. Tom Adamson capitalised on a precise assist from Christopher Coyle, slotting home to put the visitors ahead early. This quick strike set the tone, and just a minute later Oliver Cooney tested the home goalkeeper, though his effort was comfortably saved. The defensive resilience of Temple Villa was soon on display when Cian Buckley headed clear a dangerous chance in the 6th minute, preventing T&S Utd from equalising.
Cooney continued to threaten, rattling the crossbar with a powerful strike in the 9th minute, and then forcing another save at the 15-minute mark. Christopher Coyle also saw two attempts saved in quick succession between the 15th and 18th minutes, illustrating the visitors’ attacking intent. Temple Villa doubled their advantage in the 21st minute when Darragh Nee unleashed a stunning long-range strike from outside the box, expertly set up by a short pass from Cooney.
Shortly after this second goal, Temple Villa made a flurry of substitutions. Reuben Davis replaced Christopher Coyle at 21 minutes, followed by Tiernan O’Shaughnessy coming on for Dan Dwyer and James O’Grady replacing Harry Donlon both at 22 minutes. Despite these changes, Andrew Fitzpatrick remained a constant threat, forcing saves at the 26th and 29th minutes, though he was unable to add to the scoreline before the half-time whistle at 30 minutes.
The second half began with further changes as James Henson came on for Fitzpatrick at 31 minutes, and Luke McCrossan replaced James Dullea a minute later. James Henson’s first notable contribution was an attempt wide of the target at 40 minutes. At the interval between halves, Christopher Coyle and Dan Dwyer returned to the field, replacing James O’Grady and Ryan Mahon respectively at 46 minutes. Andrew Fitzpatrick was reintroduced in place of Darragh Nee at 48 minutes, while Harry Donlon came back on for James Henson at 51 minutes.
Temple Villa continued to press, with Tom Adamson shooting high over the bar at 51 minutes and Fitzpatrick again denied by the goalkeeper at 52 minutes. Another substitution saw James Henson replace Cian Buckley at 56 minutes, shoring up the left side of defence. However, T&S Utd pulled one back in the 60th minute with a well-struck left-footed effort from outside the box, giving the home side hope as the match approached its conclusion.
Temple Villa responded by bringing Darragh Nee back on for Reuben Davis at 62 minutes and reinstating James Dullea in place of Luke McCrossan at 63 minutes, aiming to maintain their lead and see out the victory. Despite the late pressure, Temple Villa held firm to secure a 2-1 win, progressing in the cup with a disciplined and determined performance on the road.
