Temple Villa FC delivered a stunning performance in their league away fixture against Tullamore FC at Tullamore Town Park on 7 March 2026, kicking off at 10:30am. The visitors emerged victorious with a commanding 7-1 scoreline in a match that lasted 60 minutes plus added time, showcasing their attacking prowess and tactical discipline.

Temple Villa lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying James Henson in goal with a back four consisting of James Dullea at right back, Ryan Mahon and Oliver Cooney as central defenders, and Cian Buckley on the left. The midfield double pivot featured Darragh Nee and Reuben Davis, tasked with both defensive cover and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, the three attacking midfielders were James O’Grady on the right, Christopher Coyle centrally, and Tom Adamson on the left, supporting lone striker Andrew Fitzpatrick. The formation was designed to provide width and creativity through the attacking midfield trio while maintaining solidity in midfield and defence. On the bench, Luke McCrossan and Sam Mellet were named as substitutes.

The match began with early attempts from Temple Villa’s wide men. Tom Adamson saw an effort sail high over the bar in the 5th minute, quickly followed by a wide shot from striker Andrew Fitzpatrick a minute later. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Fitzpatrick capitalised on a short pass from Adamson inside the box, slotting home with his left foot to give Villa the lead.

Tullamore responded swiftly, equalising in the 20th minute thanks to a defensive error from Temple Villa that allowed the home side to score from close range with a left-foot finish. However, this was merely a brief interruption to Villa’s dominance. Just a minute later, Fitzpatrick restored the lead with a close-range right-foot finish, assisted by a precise cross from Adamson. The striker was in unstoppable form and struck again in the 23rd minute, once more converting a close-range cross from Adamson with his right foot.

The floodgates opened further in the 26th minute when left back Cian Buckley unleashed a spectacular screamer with his left foot, extending the lead and electrifying the away supporters. Fitzpatrick completed his hat-trick in the 29th minute, finishing inside the box with a right-footed strike following a long pass from Reuben Davis.

The first half concluded with Temple Villa firmly in control at 6-1, showcasing their clinical finishing and fluid attacking play.

Shortly after the restart, the visitors made a substitution in the 32nd minute, with Luke McCrossan replacing right back James Dullea. The scoring continued in the 34th minute when Tom Adamson netted his first goal of the match, finishing close range with his right foot after a neat short pass from Darragh Nee.

Further changes followed as Sam Mellet came on for goalkeeper James Henson in the 40th minute, before Dullea returned to the field replacing midfielder Darragh Nee two minutes later. In a tactical shuffle, Henson was reinstated as goalkeeper in the 44th minute, coming on for the prolific Fitzpatrick.

The second half saw more substitutions with Nee returning to replace defender Oliver Cooney in the 52nd minute, and Fitzpatrick coming back on for attacking midfielder Christopher Coyle a minute later, signalling a fresh attacking impetus.

The final goal of the match came in the 58th minute when right attacking midfielder James O’Grady scored from close range with his right foot, rounding off a remarkable team display.

Temple Villa’s emphatic 7-1 victory was built on a solid defensive foundation, midfield control, and an outstanding attacking display, particularly from Andrew Fitzpatrick who scored four goals. The tactical deployment of the 4-2-3-1 formation allowed the team to exploit wide areas and maintain pressure throughout the match, leaving Tullamore FC overwhelmed at their own ground.
