Tenisons III travelled to Old Wilsonians Sports Ground in Hayes on 28 February 2026 for a 2:00pm kick-off in a league away fixture against Old Wilsonians 5th. The visitors emerged emphatic 5-1 winners in a commanding display over the full 90 minutes, leaving the home side struggling to contain their attacking threat.
Tenisons III lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying a balanced setup designed to control midfield and exploit wide areas. Bob Tullet guarded the goal, supported by a back four consisting of Sam Gleeson at right back, Chris Stafford and Jeremy Barton as central defenders, and George Toner on the left. The double pivot in midfield featured Dre Robinson and Tom Minns, tasked with both shielding the defence and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, the three attacking midfielders were Matthew Sunday on the right flank, Luke Hinds centrally positioned as the attacking midfielder, and Sahr Gbembo operating on the left. Leading the line was striker Garth Foley, expected to convert chances created by the midfield trio. Sahr Gbembo and Sean McCoy were named on the bench.
From the outset, Tenisons III imposed themselves on the game, utilising their midfield strength and wide players to stretch Old Wilsonians 5th. The home side found it difficult to break through the visitors’ disciplined defensive line marshalled by Stafford and Barton. The first half saw Tenisons III dominate possession and create numerous opportunities, although it wasn’t until the introduction of Sahr Gbembo in the latter stages of the half that broke the deadlock. A mazy run and sublime 20 yard strike set Tenisons on the path for the 3 points.
The second half saw Tenisons III’s attacking prowess come to the fore as they netted four more goals, overwhelming Old Wilsonians 5th who managed only a solitary reply. The visitors’ fluid attacking midfielders combined well with Foley’s clinical finishing to secure a comprehensive victory. The home side’s defensive frailties were exposed repeatedly, unable to contain the pace and movement of Sunday and Gbembo on the wings.
Tenisons III’s tactical discipline and execution of their 4-2-3-1 formation paid dividends, with midfielders Robinson and Woodger providing the necessary balance between defence and attack.
In summary, Tenisons III delivered a dominant performance away from home, showcasing their attacking depth and defensive solidity to secure a 5-1 triumph over Old Wilsonians 5th at Hayes Hill. This result will boost their confidence and league standing as they continue their campaign.
