The Brit Bees moved back into 2nd place with a well deserved win against good opposition in King Billy.
Missing several key players through illness, injury and holidays, The Brit had a much changed line-up, only 13 players were available and we decided based on those available to go with a 4-3-3 formation.
A good start with some dominant play resulting in 2 goals. On 17, Jay Smith headed home from Andy Sinton's excelletn free kick and on 21 JJ slotted home following another Sinton assist. The Brit appeared to be in control at 2-0 when just after the half hour, our defence opened up and King Billy scored an excellent goal, giving keeper Coley no chance.
The goal gave our openents confidence and they used the slope to good advantage and piled the pressure on the Brit defence. Coley made an excellent save from a 30 yard free-kick and we managed to hold the score to 2-1 at half-time.
Reminders given at the break of the specific tasks required and at the re-start the Brit regained control. On 63, JJ was instructed to take a corner which he floated excellently into the box, with Mike being on hand to head in a very good goal.
The Brit remained dominant for the rest of the game, all departments doing their job competently and resulting in a good controlled 2nd half where King Billy had few opportunities. On 85 mins JJ's pace on the left led to a King Billy defender conceding a penalty. Irv stepped up to confidently slot home.
Game slightly soured in the couple of minutes when sub Pete received an elbow/arm in the face immediately ending his game due to blood streaming from his previously perfect nose! The King Billy player stressed his innocence claiming it was accidental and we have to accept his word.
An excellent 3 points gained, comprehensive 2nd half display, Mike Poole gaining the MoM award with his best display in a Bees shirt. We are now up to 2nd place on goal difference after Areley Kings could only manage a draw with our oppenents next week, Star 07.
Top of the table below shows there's plenty for us to do still if we are to securea top 3 finish!
