The Fozzers FC 6- 5 CYS FC

Your Goalscorers: C Thomas x 2 E Hughes x 1 J Howe x 1 G Gremayoko x 1 S Kirby x 1

Bloody hell my hearts only just stopped racing after this dramatic game in the Wednesday 7s. A top class performance from two top class teams, The Fozzers FC best top of the table CYS FC by one goal after one of the tightest games of the season. Standout performances from the young buck Thomas, the returning veteran Kirby, the midfield maestro Hughes and the nuisance from the north Howe, made choosing a man of the match hard for this writer but please read on.

As always we start from the back with Holloway. A man who looked more confident with his favourite cb Kirby in front of him, Holloway had a half decent performance making a number of good saves, while also dropping a few clangers. Although a game saving save in the last minute won over the teams affections and the ever present 'Cat' shouldn't knock himself too much.

The partnership of Thomas and Kirby was almost orgasmic. Never has this writer seen a defensive partnership quite like it. Think Baresi/Maldini, Ferdinand/Vidic, Hyam/Willis the list goes on.. The boys made a big difference at the back and rarely put a foot wrong. With both happy to cover and let the other venture forward the defensive duo score half of the teams goals between them, with the young Thomas showing manager Scallon why he such a good call up.

Hughes once again took his place in the heart of midfield and what a game he had. Easily his standout performance of the season, it was interceptions galore from the man who some call Manchester City's replacement for Fernandinho. He also bagged a decent goal and should be happy with the way he played today.

Scallon went with the unorthodox choice of starting himself and Choudhury on the wings. Choudhury had a decent game, making important tackles and keeping up with the game. He lacked that attacking threat that we've seen from the injured Jamal Gask- Clarke in recent weeks, and needs to look at his touch, but overall a decent performance. Scallon was average, making a few good challenges and contributing a really good work rate although it just didn't seem to come off for him. We all know his off field troubles with Gremayoko are boiling over, and his inclusion in the starting 7 was a blatant dig at the Fozzers #1 goalscorer.

Another somewhat controversial call was to start Howe upfront over Gremayoko, but by God did it pay dividends. Although only getting one goal, 'Big Gucci' as he is affectionately known, was a constant nuisance up front and really put the pressure on CYS' backline, who were so strong in the reverse fixture. This writer wants to see Howe sign a permanent contract, as does the rest of the Fozzers fan base.

Gremayoko eventually got some game time and bagged himself a good goal, and contributed an assist to one of Thomas' magnificent goals. He definitely played well, and was awarded referees player of the game, although this clearly hit a nerve with the manager Scallon who's very public feud with Gremayoko is all we're reading about on the back of the Evening Telegraph.

There was also a debut for Jack 'Darryl' Taylor, after a week of contract negotiations. Taylor was seen in the crowd last week and was eager to prove himself. Clearly showing signs of potential, the half-brother of Gremayoko just needs to build his fitness back up to where it was in the Sporting glory days, and he'll be up there with the rest.

Overall the performance of the season so far, The Fozzers move up a place and look to continue next week.

Well done the boys, Allez les Fozzers
