Another warm and sunny spring day saw the wolves lose the toss for the second week running and play downhill in the first half.

The Jets were putting the Wolves under pressure from the off but couldn’t get past William and Tom in defence. The Wolves were passing the ball neatly out of defence and one great move involving Tom, William, Ollie and Nathan lead to a chance on goal for Dylan.

The Jets were packing the midfield area and their No: 7 looked very dangerous on the ball, however Nathan was tasked with marking him and gave him very little time to make anything happen. The front three of Jacob, Dylan and Ollie were passing the ball well and creating chances but with no luck in front of goal. Jacob had a couple of shots and Nathan had a good chance go wide. The Wolves pressure lead to several corners and Sam almost got his head to one and then had a shot wide from another.

Cole was sweeping up well behind the defence and only needed to make one save from a long range effort in the first half.

 Half-Time 0-0

The Jets pushed forward a bit more in the second half going down hill which created a bit more space for the Wolves to attack. Six minutes into the half, William stopped a Jets move and played a really good ball upfield to Dylan who won a corner when his shot was deflected. Ollie took the corner which fell nicely for Dylan at the front post and his cheeky back heel caught the Jets defence off guard and crossed the line 0-1.

The Jets No: 7 was getting more and more frustrated with Nathan stopping him getting any ball and all the pressure was now coming from the Wolves. Nathan played a good ball to Dylan who broke down the wing and passed well into the box to Ollie and Jacob who both had shots blocked.

Midway through the half and Jacob had another shot go just wide from a great passing move involving William, Tom and Ollie. Tom also had a shot after a good piece of interplay involving Dylan and Jacob. Sam was covering the No: 7 while Nathan had a breather and put Ollie into space with a clever back heel after winning the ball in midfield, but once again the shot was just wide.

With five minutes left Jacob had a header just go over the bar from a Dylan throw in. From the resulting goal kick Jacob played a hopeful high ball into the packed Jet’s area and a defender jumped to clear but used his arm to control the ball – penalty.

Dylan stepped up for the spot kick and although their keeper dived the right way and got a hand to the ball the shot was too powerful to stop. 0-2

 Final score 0-2

The Wolves controlled the game very well and I was really pleased with the improved passing out of defence and the decision making, especially from Ollie and Dylan who passed the ball quickly and efficiently today. Nathan and Sam, with support from Ollie, did a great job keeping their No: 7 out of the game. We’ve seen him get goals from all over the pitch in previous games (he scored with a scorcher from his own half the week before!) but today he didn’t even get a chance to shoot.

This was a game we didn’t want to lose and although a more flamboyant game plan might have seen us score more goals we did create a lot of chances but just had very little luck in the final third against a determined Jets defence. Once again this was a great team performance and a deserved win.
