Home league match played on 14 October 2012.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

Clearly before the game the opposition was a very different team we faced two weeks ago, and unfortunately our performance was also very different (and not for the better!) We began strong (or so we thought), when Lewis hit a rasping volley after just 47 secs! A couple of quick corners saw us pressing the oppositions goal which lead to their goalkeeper making a massive mistake by kicking the ball into the back of his defender, which rebounded into his own net! 1-0. The game took a turn after taking the lead, with the Great Danes, and their changed squad, pressing us hard and being 1st to the ball. We were totally off the pace and not looking as impressive as we have over the past few weeks. We were sluggish! Nothing much happened for the next 20 minutes, except for Tyler being alert and making some good clearences from in and around his penalty box!   Tom who had come on for Andrew earlier was impressive and slipped the ball through to Lewis who drove the ball into the bottom corner,     2-0. We did start to pass and move a little, but up until Callum smashed one in from 20 Yards to make it 3-0 we looked vulnerable and in danger of conceeding a goal. H/T 3-0 The 2nd Half continued in much the same way, with the 18 Thurrock supporters dumbfounded by the way the game was going!! What was happening???......... Another quiet spell in the game was suddenly ended when Andrew was fouled (pulled over) only for the ref to not give it. This resulted in Andrew confronting the offending player, exchanging some pleasantries (not), before both players received yellow cards (and lucky they were to). Andrew had the red mist and had to be subbed as he was going to kill the other player, who unbelievably was kept on the pitch by the other teams manager! A total disgrace considering his language!!! After finally getting a free kick some 25 yards from goal, we went 4-0 up! Brad, curling in a beautiful free kick into the top right hand corner past the goalkeeper, could only watch it go in. There then followed three goals in quick succession. The first of which was a penalty dispatched by Lewis after handball from a defender 5-0. Two minuets later Lewis slipped a ball through to Connor who tucked the ball away neatly. Just a minute later Jack cashed in on the goalkeeper fumbling a cross/shot from Connor to bang the ball into the net to make it 7-0. This was almost the last kick of the game in which we played below our capability, but again we came away with a win and a clean sheet!   Quotes from fans: "Balls right in the corner...... thats where I like them..." (Maria) after Lewis scored into the corner of the net. "Losing our shape".  "We havent got any shape" (Lynsey and Tracey) "Whats going on today???" (most of us)   Thanks for the refreshments today Kay and Maria!! One of a few good things today. 5 Wins from 5 Games........... Top of the league. Lets work hard and stay there!
