Away league match played on 13 January 2013.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

On a cold day for the supporters the players kept themselves warm with another good performance and another win to keep their incredible run going! We set up in a 4-4-2 formation so we could have a real go at Byron Red Star and put them on the back foot from the start. We didnt dissappoint. Even though we had a few players carrying knocks we looked like we could take Byron apart whenever we wanted to. There were a few moments early on when we rushed our passing or panicked on the ball, when if we had had a little composure on the ball, we could of played the easy pass and move which we can do so well.  We didn't really create a clear cut chance until the 11th minute when their was a good run from Connor and pass into Lewis, who calmly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper to put us into the lead. 1-0. We continued to press Byron and created chance after chance. A good pass and move involving at least five players finished with Jack firing his shot passed the keeper only to see it come off the inside of the post and roll along the goal line before it was hacked clear. Jack was not to be kept off of the score sheet and cashed in when his first shot was saved by the keeper but the strikers instinct meant he followed his shot in to ram the ball home.2-0. The pressure was off a little now and you could tell by the way we were breaking away that the players were full of confidence. This was none more evident than when a flowing team move down the left saw Callum, Jack and Lewis working in unison and with Lewis seeing his shot come back off the post for Connor to follow in and tuck it away. 3-0. Byron managed to get into our half and were awarded a free kick just outside the area for a bewildering foul that had our supporters straining their voices! Tyler did what he does best and saved the free kick. He was struggling with a thigh injury from last week and must be commended for playing very well, although he was getting cold due to the lack of action he was seeing. Sam was outstanding in the centre of the defence and made a great goaline clearence after Byron managed a shot at goal which rebounded of the post and into the goalmouth. He was also very vocal giving instructions to his team mates throughout the game which is always good to see from a captain! The second half followed a similar patten to the first, and it didnt take long for us to score again! Gerald playing at right back scored from a good run last week....... this week he used his head! Connor delivered a peach of a corner and Gerald rose to meet the ball with a powerfull header that flew into the top corner!4-0. Andrew who was having a great game at centre back went on one of his mad runs and managed to find himself in the oppositions penalty box........ with none of us sure as to what he was going to do with the ball he suprised us all when he smashed the ball into the top corner of the goal to put us 5-0 up!! (I think he was as suprised as us). Five became six shortly after when more attacking play and yet another corner from Connor was volleyed in by Jack for his second of the game.6-0. The game was now well and truly up for Byron but we did back off a little. Substitutions, player positions changing, may have accounted for us coasting the last 20 minutes of the game. Byron did manage to get a consolation goal when the smallest player on the pitch got his head onto a corner and headed it past Tyler who had no chance saving it. 6-1. We did pick up the pace for the last couple of minutes and should of added to our score. Jack was unlucky with a header which came back off the post and cross-bar junction, Andrew had another couple of chances to show off his shooting skills but missed the target both times! But overall we were comfortable winners, who never looked in any danger. This is a credit to all the boys who have stepped up their game this season and are getting the rewards they deserve. Keep up the good work!
