Intersports were our opponents today in what was a very difficult fixture for us coming off of two defeats in a row...... something we are not used to, and something we don’t want to repeat!

Conditions were very tricky today, the pitch was cut up from a game being played on it previous to our game and then a heavy downpour meant that controlling the ball was very hard due to the pitch being muddy and slippery. The game began as a very even contest with Intersports playing well while we played below our normally high standard. The ball was going from end to end with neither team really creating a clear chance. There was some good interplay down the left with Jack flicking the ball around the corner for Callum to beat the right back and deliver a good cross across the six yard box, but no-one had anticipated this so the chance went begging. 22 mins in we shot ourselves in the foot when after having the chance to clear our lines we fluffed a clearance leaving the Intersports player to finish well by chipping over the advancing Tyler. 0-1. This seemed to wake us up a little, (as so often it does) and we went straight on the attack looking for the equaliser. Ryan had to leave the field after 26 mins with a heavy nose bleed after trying to control the ball with his face! lol Callum showed so good skill when he flicked the ball round the defender and got a good shot off only to be denied by the keeper. A minute before half time saw us equalise when we gained possession of the ball via Rhys taking a ball to his ......... sensitive area...  the ball dropped to Taylor who slipped Jack through to bustle his way through and fire the ball home at the near post. 1-1 H/T

The second half began and we started playing the type of football we (the supporters) have got used to watching. We were on top now and starting to create more chances with our attacking down the wings. One of these raids on the Intersports goal finally saw us going into the lead when Connors cross was turned away by the defender into the path of Ryan, who chipped one to the far post for Jack (who needed treatment after) to go in bravely against the goalkeeper and defender and head it into the net! 2-1. Well on top now and looking good, we went further in front when Callum cashed in on a goalmouth scramble to bang it home at the back post. 3-1. The Intersports defence and goal were under attack almost constantly no and an endless count of corners was being racked up. Unfortunately we wasn't able to capitalise on any of the corners which were delivered well into the box, so we will have to work on that in training!! The conditions were really bad so the game went a bit quite as many times the control or pass from both sides wasn't the best. A good save from Tyler, after Taylor had deflected a cross which looked goal bound kept us in front and in control. We looked the more likely to score, and 4-1 would have made the game much more comfortable, but it was not to be so we had to settle for 3-1 and 3 points.

Well done lads in difficult conditions. 3 points keeps us in the title race! Bring on the next game!
