Away league match played on 21 October 2012.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

What a start to the game! A neat passing move leading to Jack laying a ball into the path of Lewis who smashed it home after just 1min 30 secs!! It looked like we could have been in for a hat full of goals after that start, but it proved not to be the case. We made good progress in the opening 20 minutes of the half, with some good interplay and movement off the ball. We were flying down the left hand side of the pitch, but with Callum starting on the bench we struggled to deliver the left footed cross that would have put the oppositions defence under more pressure. A change was made to get Callum into the action but we then stopped attacking down the left? Andrew had a good first half with some very good runs (if only he had a left foot) and sometimes not two left feet! Only joking Andrew! and it was Andrew that gave the pass to jack who finished well to put us 2-0 up. Intersport were not dead yet and could have been back into the game had it not been for Tyler who was in great form to deny at least two goal scoring attempts! More domination from our team followed and the corner count was mounting up quickly. Connor delivered some excellent corners and was rewarded from one of them when Gerald got his head on one, flicking it on to Lewis who volleyed it home to put the match well in our control 3-0 just before the ref blew for half time!

The 2nd half promised so much, with us playing downhill and looking comfortable, But it was not to be.. The ground was very muddy and slippery with players slipping and sliding like "Bambi on ice" making the washing a real task for the mums! Intersport must have sensed we thought we had done enough because they appeared to step up a gear while we went down one! We were second to every ball now and were just about holding out until in the 66th minute when, after the ball was played over our back four (for the umpteenth time) they managed to find the net and beat the inspired Tyler, albeit with a deflected shot! 3-1 we were living on a knife edge. Sam made a great goal line clearance from under his bar from another effort. We stuttered through the 2nd half with only a couple of efforts on the oppositions goal, most notably a long shot form Lewis made their keeper tip it onto the bar and a good effort from Connor with his usual tight angle shot that normally beats most keepers!  But not today.

Today was a "game off two halves" quoted Maria while Mark Rogers quoted "Bad day at the office, but got the result" another was "signs of a team that can play a lot better" while the most surprising quote can from the oppositions manager! Who said "I'm pleased with that result. Thought we were going to get smashed"

Well done for the result today lads, although we will play better and will smash them up in the return game!

Special thanks today go to the supporters that turned up in poor weather conditions. Thanks to the refreshments team you know who you are, and thanks to Mark Lemay (physio and sponge man) who stepped in today and  quickly diagnosed the injury to Taylor..."get him off, his done" was the scientific diagnoses I think?
