Away league match played on 06 April 2014.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

New Stevenston 2 - 3 Wishaw Athletic

A terrible park but still some nice football regardless from the start was played today at times play was rushed but once we settled after the initial goal we played our game. Deano rifled ball past keeper after the ball sat up nicely for him to put us 1-0 up and continued pressuring before they countered to make it
1-1 the referee allowed play to go on despite calls for offside from Dave English!! Great play down the right led to us taki...ng a 2-1 lead after James struck it low in hard and crept through keepers grasp into the net. Several other opportunities were created but never came to much before half time. Midfield was doing there job today Lee, Cockburn & Deano in the middle with a hard shift as did Gary and Sean Gaffney having fun in the mud!! Ref blew for a penalty after Marcus tried to play footsie inside the penalty box but Jamsy was there again making another great save after to maintain the lead! A substitution was made for Gistel for Gaffney with his 1st touch after a great ball from Jamsy a ferocious but decisive kick found Gistel Bjorn who ran through on goal to put us further in the lead Gistel finished the ball low into the comer to make it 3-1. Callum came on for James and we continued to maintain possession and push for a 4th to wrap it up they scored to make it 3-2 but despite the score line we where always in control of the game. Possibly could of been Lee in the 1st half and more good chances created near the end for Martin & Callum but a well deserved win despite them losing their heads.

Great to see Gary back again for "30 minutes" great shift down the right and tireless effort shown today.

James Martin with an assist and another great save today again and dealt with the ball in adverse condition especially in the 1st half.

Marcus MacFarlane, Steven Hamill and Chris Statham did what was required today not really put under pressure in the 1st half but dealt with it in whatever way was necessary. The second half was more action but the defence were solid dealing with what was thrown at them and like the rest of the team deserved plaudits today.

Martin Clark lead the line well today on a heavy park did what was required today creating several opportunities and unlucky not to find a goal himself today.

Graeme Jed Cockburn with a solid performance, dogged never give up attitude which annoyed them and aggravated them to the point of lashing out. Credit to Graeme for playing football and not getting involved in what proved to be a heated game especially near the end.

Deano and Lee Thomson had a tough time in the middle today wouldn't be suprised if there isn't lumps and bruises but again this is what's needed getting stuck in and showing what we can do!!

James showed his presence today winning the ball in the air on the ground pressuring their defence and midfield. A well deserved goal and definitely deserving of man of the match James McGhee
