Witham welcomed undefeated Bocking Social to Bramston for its Division 1 league clash

Witham started very quickly and the pace of Panting, Stoneham and Yeo pushed the opposition right back. Within 2 minutes Yeo nearly broke clear but for a last ditch tackle. A minute later Yeo again turned his man and fired a shot across goal that was well saved by the keeper. Minutes later some great pass and move was met by Adams as he drove into the box but his shot just went wide. 8 minutes in and it was 1 -0, Yeo beat his marker down the right and whipped the ball in to Stoneham whose header found Lawes at the back post and he taped home. Witham continued the pressure and Jackson nearly created an opening with one of his traditional runs down the left found Stoneham 12 yards out but his shot went narrowly wide. Vicarage and Humphrys were controlling the middle of the park and after some good work by the both of them Panting was released down the right, he easily beat his man but his ball just missed Yeo and Stoneham. The Galacticos kept the ball well and was stringing passes together with good options shown by the defenders to keep the ball and build again from the back. Midway through the first half Humphrys played a superb ball in behind to Yeo who again used his pace to get on the end of it but his touch took him wide and his shot missed the target. Panfield come back in to the game a bit and after a couple of forced throw ins within Withams half they drew the game level when the striker 8 yards out and with his back to goal scored an audacious overhead kick. Witham survived a strong 5 minutes from the away team with some strong defending including a great challenge by Murphy on the edge of the box and some strong ariel headers from Clark. Witham began to press again and on 37 minutes Yeo who was a handful throughout the first half got his first goal of the game when he met Lawes corner at the back post and blasted home from 8 yards.

HALF TIME WITHAM GALACTICOS 2 BOCKING SOCIAL 1

The Galacticos picked up from the first half with some free flowing football and both Lawes and Humphrys had shots saved early on. Lawes then picked the ball up down the left and beat 2 players but his dangerous delivery was just met by the goalkeeper. On 55 minutes it was 3 -1 when Yeo picked the ball up 25 yards out and let fly a rocket in to the bottom right hand corner leaving the keeper no chance. A minute later another fantastic goal this time from Humphrys who was also having a superb game when he blasted the ball in from 25 yards out that hit the sanction and just went over the line....It was a superb strike that will take some beating for goal of the season. Orr was introduced and Barbrock shortly after (making his 2nd debut for the Galacticos) Orr was seeing alot of the ball early on and was involved in some superb build up play on the edge of the box that forced a good save from the keeper after Yeo's shot. Panting then was released down the right but couldnt get his shot away as he cut in on goal. Panfield tried desperately to get back into the game crossing dangerous balls into the box but Cannock's handling was 100% throughout as it has been all season. On 75 minutes another wonder goal this time from Orr who collected a throw-in from Stoneham 30 yards out and after a short run in he placed the ball right in to the top corner to make it 5-1. Witham continued to create and the game could have easily been double figures but let in a sloppy goal towards the end, but Witham stayed strong to secure another win.

FINAL SCORE WITHAM GALACTICOS 5 BOCKING SOCIAL 2

A brilliant performance that keeps us unbeaten and now top of the league : ). At last our style of football reurned and the passing and movement was back to its best, to be a little critical it could have easily been 10 plus goals but we will take 5 : )

Every player deserves a pat on the back for our progressive improvement and togetherness over the past few weeks and if we continue with this throughout it could be another successful season. Our squad looks strong and when you have players of good ability coming off the bench it shows how well everyone is playing and how important it is also. I would like to praise the consistency of Jackson, Panting and Murphy in the last few games their performances have been excellent each bringing something to the team. Cannock as much as he is a mouthy shit his handling and discipline within the sticks so far has been brilliant and Harry Stoneham's ability to play well wherever he plays is a great asset to have. Also Whipps who has still come over to support the team through his suspension and the support of J Stoneham and Daron Yeo who have put alot of input into the side through pre season and the start of it. Man of the match Sunday was a tough choice between Humphry and Yeo. Humphry was dominant in the middle of the park with some great tackles and his movement across the pitch was brilliant both attacking and defending and this was wrapped up nicely with a superb strike. Yeo just beat him to the decision with a superb performance up top that included strength, good link up play, pace and a couple of goals, there defenders literally couldnt deal with him

Now remember boys your only as good as your last performance so lets not get cocky and keep up this great team spirit and desire if we want to challenge for top honours. We have a break in the league this Sunday as we entertain Division 3 side Olney Arms in the Charlie Turnball Cup
