On the morning of 2 May 2026, Young Stars travelled to Hornlee to face Red Eagles in a crucial league away fixture, kicking off promptly at 10:00am. The match concluded with a 3-1 victory for Young Stars, a result that showcased their attacking prowess and tactical discipline under referee Gotti’s watchful eye.

Young Stars lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with Boettie on the right, Zop centrally, and Arzi on the left. This defensive trio was tasked with maintaining solidity and covering the flanks when the wing-backs pushed forward. The midfield four consisted of Janeville Williams on the right, Junior Juks and Rushine Davids occupying the central midfield roles, and Richard on the left. Their roles were to control possession, support both defence and attack, and provide service to the two attacking midfielders, Lizzy on the right and Kiembie on the left, who operated just behind the lone striker, Seuna. The expectation was for the attacking midfielders to link play creatively and supply the striker with goal-scoring opportunities. The substitutes named for the match were Ivandre Haaland, Yanga, Algin Kleynhans, and Xavior Stukkies.

The game began with Young Stars asserting themselves early, and it was Rushine Davids who opened the scoring in the 19th minute. His goal gave the visitors an early advantage and set the tone for the contest. Red Eagles responded with determination, and their persistence paid off in the 35th minute when they equalised through a goalmouth scramble, capitalising on a moment of defensive disorganisation.

The first half ended with the scores level at 1-1, leaving the match finely poised at the interval. After the break, Young Stars were forced into an early substitution when Seuna, their striker, went off injured in the 53rd minute, making way for Ivandre Haaland. This change did not disrupt their rhythm, as just two minutes later, Kiembie restored the lead with a well-worked team move, finishing off a precise assist from Rushine Davids.

Tactical adjustments followed as Young Stars introduced Yanga for Richard on the left midfield in the 65th minute, aiming to inject fresh energy and maintain control. A minute later, Algin Kleynhans replaced Janeville Williams on the right side of midfield, further reinforcing the team's midfield dynamism.

The visitors extended their lead in the 72nd minute when Lizzy scored from close range with his right foot, following a well-delivered cross from Junior Juks. This goal was another product of cohesive team play and demonstrated the effectiveness of their attacking midfielders. Immediately after this goal, Kiembie was substituted off for Xavior Stukkies, continuing the tactical reshuffle to preserve the lead.

In the closing stages, goalkeeper Jerome Boukers received a yellow card in the 80th minute for an unspecified offence, but this did not hinder Young Stars’ composure. They held firm to secure a valuable 3-1 victory on the road.

Young Stars’ disciplined 3-4-2-1 formation and the contributions from key players like Rushine Davids, Kiembie, and Lizzy were instrumental in their success at Hornlee. Their ability to respond quickly after conceding and to manage the game effectively after the injury substitution highlighted their resilience and tactical flexibility.
