AS Monaco FC is a Monégasque professional football club based in Fontvieille, Monaco. Although not in France, it is a member of the French Football Federation (FFF) and currently competes in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football.
The club was founded in 1919 as a unification of numerous local clubs based in France and the principality. It has won eight Ligue 1 titles, five Coupe de France titles, and one Ligue 2 title.
AS Monaco is one of the most successful clubs in French football history. It has also reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992 and the UEFA Champions League in 2004.
Recent History
AS Monaco has been in a period of decline in recent years. The club finished 18th in Ligue 1 in 2018-19, narrowly avoiding relegation. It has since recovered and finished 7th in 2021-22.
The club is currently managed by Adi Hütter. Its most famous player is Thierry Henry, who played for the club from 1994 to 1999.
