History
Abercynon RFC has a long and proud history. The team won the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1922 and 1923, and the South Wales Amateur League in 1923, 1924, 1925, 1927, 1930, and 1931.
The team also had a successful youth team in the 1970s and 1980s, which produced several players who went on to play professional football, including Mark Hughes and Gary Speed.
