KF Tirana (Klubi i Futbollit Tirana) is an Albanian professional football club based in the capital city of Tirana. The club was founded in 1920 and is the most successful in Albanian football, having won 54 recognized major domestic trophies. They are the only football club in Albania with two stars in their crest after winning the 20th championship in 2003, each star corresponds to ten championships.
History
KF Tirana was founded on October 16, 1920, by a group of students and athletes. The club's first president was Teki Selenica. KF Tirana played its first match on November 7, 1920, against SK Shkodra, which they won 2-1.
KF Tirana has been the dominant force in Albanian football for most of its history. The club has won 20 Albanian Superliga titles, 16 Albanian Cups, 14 Albanian Super Cups, and 2 Albanian Cups of Cups.
KF Tirana has also had some success in European competition. The club has reached the second round of the UEFA Champions League on three occasions, most recently in 2004-05.
Recent seasons
KF Tirana has won the Albanian Superliga in each of the last three seasons. The club also won the Albanian Cup in 2021-22.
KF Tirana is currently competing in the 2022-23 UEFA Europa Conference League. The club is in Group G, along with Bodø/Glimt, Roma, and Zorya Luhansk.
