The club was founded in 1970 by Dennis Cumberland, George Fryer, and Bill Aldridge. They have always played in the Stroud & District League, and have won the league championship on two occasions, in 1978-79 and 1989-90.
The club has a strong youth policy, and has produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football, including Paul Wilkinson, who played for Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town.
