Bishops Stortford Wanderers were founded in 1976 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. The club initially competed in the North West Essex League, before moving to the East Herts Corinthian League in 1982.
The club has won the East Herts Corinthian League on four occasions, most recently in 2019. They have also won the Charity Salver, a cup competition for teams in the East Herts area, on three occasions.
