Carlton Athletic Football Club is a football club based in Carlton, West Yorkshire, England. They are currently members of the West Yorkshire Association Football League Premier Division, the ninth tier of English football.
The club was founded in 1903 and played in the Wakefield and District League until 1977, when they joined the West Yorkshire League. They won the West Yorkshire League Premier Division in 1985-86 and 1990-91.
In 1996, the club joined the Northern Counties East League. They won the Division One championship in 2001-02 and were promoted to the Premier Division. They remained in the Premier Division until 2012, when they were relegated to Division One.
The club returned to the Premier Division in 2018 and have remained there since. They finished as runners-up in 2021-22.

The league is divided into three divisions: Premier Division, Division One, and Division Two. The Premier Division is the highest division and is currently sponsored by Simply Sports. The Division One is sponsored by The New Inn, Carlton, and the Division Two is sponsored by The Railway Inn, Carlton.
The league champions are promoted to the Northern Counties East League Division One, while the bottom two clubs in the Premier Division are relegated to Division One. The bottom two clubs in Division One are relegated to Division Two, while the top two clubs in Division Two are promoted to Division One.
