The team was founded in February 2018 by a group of friends who met while studying at Newcastle University. They are all passionate about football and wanted to create a team that would allow them to play regularly and have fun.

Classic XI has been a successful team since its inception, winning the Wednesday 11s Football League Division 3 title in their first season. They have also reached the semi-finals of the Wednesday 11s Football League Cup.

The team is made up of players of all abilities, from experienced footballers to those who are just starting out. They are all welcome to join the team, regardless of their skill level.

Classic XI train on Wednesdays at 6:00pm at Cochrane Park in Newcastle. They play their home games at the same venue.

The Newcastle University Intra Mural Sport football league is a competitive football league for students and staff of Newcastle University. The league is open to all abilities and there are teams in a variety of divisions.

The league is played on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays during the university term time. The season runs from October to May.
