The Washington Commanders were founded in 1932 as the Boston Braves. They moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937 and were renamed the Redskins. The Redskins won three Super Bowls (1982, 1987, and 1991) and appeared in four other Super Bowls.
In 2020, the Redskins announced that they would be changing their name to the Washington Football Team. The team's new name, the Washington Commanders, was announced in 2022.
