Fawdon FC was founded in 1972 by a group of local residents. The team initially played in the Tyneside Alliance League, before moving to the Northeast Combination Football League in 1980.
The team has won the Northeast Combination Football League title on four occasions, in 1983, 1992, 2000, and 2019. They have also won the league's cup competition, the Northumberland Senior Cup, on three occasions, in 1984, 1993, and 2001.
