Ghala Football Club
Ghala Football Club is a professional football club based in Salalah, Oman. The club was founded in 1972 and currently competes in the Oman Professional League, the top division of Omani football.
Ghala is one of the most successful clubs in Omani football, having won the Oman Professional League a record 10 times, as well as the Sultan Qaboos Cup 8 times. The club has also won the GCC Champions League once, in 2002.
History
Ghala Football Club was founded in 1972 by a group of young men in Salalah. The club quickly rose through the ranks of Omani football, and in 1983 they won their first Oman Professional League title.
Ghala continued to be successful in the 1990s, winning the Oman Professional League a further three times. In 2002, the club won the GCC Champions League, becoming the first Omani club to do so.
Ghala's most recent major trophy win was the Sultan Qaboos Cup in 2019. The club is currently managed by Ahmed Al-Mukhaini.
Stadium
Ghala Football Club plays its home matches at the Al-Ghala Stadium in Salalah. The stadium has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.
