More about the team

HBJFC is run for the benefit of children living, or attending school, within the Hampsthwaite and Birstwith area. We cater for ages 6 through to 11 (Year 1 to Year 6), both boys and girls.

Our Club Ethos is to provide a safe, friendly and fun environment for children to play football, meet and make new friends. We also play in a local friendly league against other local clubs, as well as being involved with mini tournaments. All games are Small Sided, 7 v 7, and run within the criteria laid down by FA guidelines for each age group.

Whilst we do not play to lose, the emphasis is on FUN and allowing the children to express their ability, skill and flair, as well as developing from structured guidance.

All sessions are run by Qualified Football Association Coaches, with Level 1 and Level 2 Accreditations. All coaches have undergone First Aid and Child Protection courses.

We are very proud of our links with the local schools in Hampsthwaite and Birstwith. Birstwith is an FA Charter Standard school.

The club is run entirely by volunteers, for the benefit of the local community. If you would like to become involved, and not just from a coaching perspective, as we have many other important roles, please just have a chat with us to see what you could do to help.

Additional Information:-

Rain jackets - the club has a supply of rain jackets which can be purchased for £10.00. If you wish to have one for your child please ask one of the coaches.

Website - fixtures and club news can be found at the club’s website www.hbjfc.com. Please check the website for notifications of training / match postponements. If there is a postponement, the site will be updated by 8:30 on a Saturday morning.

Training - Saturday morning training commences promptly at 9.15 so please be at the field no later than 9.10 - The sessions finish at 10.30.

New coaches - any one wishing to help coach would be welcomed with open arms and the club would fund relevant FA Coaching Qualifications. Details of the courses can be found on the WRCFA web site http://www.wrcfa.com.

Parent help - in addition to the coaching side of things we always need help on coaching and match days, setting up, clearing up, setting posts and nets up. On the non football side we again need help with administration, fund raising and social events for the players and parents.

Parking - parents dropping off or parking should use either the Memorial Hall car park or preferably the car park adjacent to the cricket field at the back of the playing fields. Please do not park or drop off on Hollins Close.

Shin pads - please ensure that your child wears shin pads for every training session and on match days. Your coach will not allow them to take part if they are not worn.

Clothing - as the weather changes, it is important that your child arrives for training / matches in appropriate warm clothing. In order to maintain your child’s welfare and interest / enjoyment, hats, gloves and rain jackets are an absolute must on the cold days.
