Highgate United Football Club

Highgate United Football Club is a football club based in the Shirley district of Solihull, having relocated from their original location of Highgate in Birmingham. They are currently members of the Midland League Premier Division and play at the Coppice.

History

The club was established in 1948 by a group of former residents of the St Vincent's Home for Working Boys, run by Father Hudson's Society. They joined the South Birmingham League, before moving up to Division Two of the Worcestershire Combination in 1964. After finishing fourth in their first season in Division Two, the club were promoted to Division One.

In 1971, Highgate United joined the Midland Football League, and have remained in the league ever since. They have won the Midland League Premier Division championship twice, in 1992-93 and 2014-15.

Recent seasons

Highgate United finished in ninth place in the Midland League Premier Division in 2021-22. They have started the 2022-23 season well, and are currently in fourth place in the table.

The Midland Football League is an English football league that operates at the ninth and tenth levels of the English football league system. It is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and Division One.

The Midland Football League was founded in 1971, and is currently sponsored by PW Group. The league's headquarters are located in Birmingham.
