History
Newmains United AFC was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The team initially played in the Holytown & District Sunday League, before moving to the Airdrie & Coatbridge Sunday Amateur Football League in 1980.
The team has won the Airdrie & Coatbridge Sunday Amateur Football League title on four occasions, in 1984, 1992, 2002, and 2009. They have also won the league cup on two occasions, in 1985 and 2003.
