Introduction
Pro Direct Academy East London U19s SCL is a football team based in East London, England. They play in the Youth Development League (YDL), which is a regional league for under-19 teams in England.
History
The team was founded in 2019 as a partnership between Pro Direct Soccer, the world's biggest online sports retailer, and SCL, a leading education provider. The team's goal is to provide young players with the opportunity to develop their football skills while also gaining a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport.
Current Season
The team is currently in their fourth season in the YDL. They have finished in the bottom half of the table in each of their previous three seasons. However, they are currently in sixth place in the table with three games remaining, so they are in contention for a top-four finish.
Players
The team's current squad includes players from a variety of backgrounds. Some of the players have come through the youth ranks at professional clubs, while others have been recruited from local schools and colleges.
The team's captain is Able Kafele-McRae, who is a striker. Kafele-McRae has scored seven goals in the YDL this season. Other key players in the team include Daniel Bartels, a midfielder, and Daniel Flynn, a goalkeeper.
Coaching Staff
The team is coached by Paul Brown, who is a UEFA A licensed coach. Brown has previously worked as a coach at a number of professional clubs, including Charlton Athletic and West Ham United.
Youth Development League
The Youth Development League is a regional league for under-19 teams in England. The league is divided into 12 regional divisions, with each division containing 12 teams. The top four teams in each division at the end of the season qualify for the national play-offs.
The YDL is a highly competitive league, and it is a great opportunity for young players to develop their skills and experience. The league has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho.
