RSL Football Club was founded in 1960 by a group of students from the University of Hasanuddin. The club's first president was Andi Mappiare.
RSL Football Club has won the Liga Indonesia Second Division twice, in 1994 and 2004. The club has also won the Piala Indonesia once, in 2007.
