The club was founded in 1936 and is one of the most successful clubs in Tanzania, having won the Tanzanian Premier League a record 22 times. Simba SC also won the CAF Champions League in 1974 and the CAF Cup Winners' Cup in 1993.
History
Simba SC was founded in 1936 by a group of students from the then-Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) secondary school in Dar es Salaam. The club's original name was Dar es Salaam Young Africans, but it was changed to Simba SC in 1971.
Simba SC has won the Tanzanian Premier League a record 22 times, the most recent being in 2022. The club has also won the Tanzanian FA Cup 13 times and the Tanzanian Community Shield 14 times.
