THE RETURN OF SOUTHEND THUNDER FC

2010/11 sees Thunder reforming

LEIGH UNITED

Leigh United III are a new team for the 2009/2010 season. The squad isn't too different from the Southend Thunder team, but a few new additions should see a better side and hopefully a more successful season under our new name.

An 8th placed finish saw as gain promotion to Division 6!!

SOUTHEND THUNDER FC

Southend Thunder formed for the 2007/2008 season, put together by Nathan Dunley and Russell Ball, and consisting of a bunch of friends. The team were very inconsistant and didn't field the same eleven once during 20 games. Mixed fortunes followed and the Thunder finished 7th in a close Division 8. Due to teams dropping out in the higher divisions, promotion was gained to Div 7. For various reasons (moving house, moving clubs and pure laziness) the majority of the squad abandoned ship.

Nathan recruited crocked centre half Rhys Watson to the management team, who, in turn recruited half of Norwich Union's staff to the team.

2008/2009 promises to be an equally inconsistant season, but we're hopeful a 7th place finish can yet again bring promotion!
