The club was founded in 1922 and is named after St. Wilfrid, the patron saint of Standish. They play their home matches at St. Wilfrids Recreation Ground.
History
St. Wilfrids FC have a long and successful history. They have won the Mid Lancs Football League title on four occasions, most recently in 2017-18. They have also won the Lancashire FA Amateur Cup on two occasions, in 1983-84 and 2015-16.
The club has also produced a number of players who have gone on to play professional football, including David Fairclough, who played for Liverpool and England.
