Hale 9 Football Club was founded in 1972 by a group of local residents. The club initially competed in the Coolbinia District Football Association. In 1982, Hale 9 joined the Western Australian Amateur Football League (WAFA).
Hale 9 won the WAFA Division 3 championship in 1985. The club then moved up to the WAFA Division 2 competition in 1986.
In 2003, Hale 9 joined the Football West State League. The club has competed in the State League Division 2 since then.
