Onslow Gavaskars is a football (soccer) team based in Wellington, New Zealand. They are members of the Wellington Soccer Federation and compete in the Capital Premier League.
History
The team was founded in 1972 by a group of Indian migrants who wanted to play football in Wellington. The team was originally named the Onslow Everests, but they changed their name to Onslow Gavaskars in 1980 in honor of the Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar.
The team has won the Capital Premier League championship four times, in 1981, 1982, 1983, and 2019. They have also won the Wellington Federation Cup twice, in 1981 and 1982.
