UWC Ladies Football Club is a grassroots soccer team based in Bellville, South Africa. The team was founded in 2018 and currently has 14 members.
History
UWC Ladies Football Club was founded in 2018 by a group of women who were passionate about playing soccer. The team started out playing in local tournaments and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2020, the team won the USSA Western Cape Football title, and in 2021, they won the Varsity Football championship.
The team is currently coached by Nathan Peskin, who is also the coach of the University of Western Cape men's soccer team. Peskin is a former professional soccer player who has played in South Africa and Europe.
Recent Accomplishments
- Won the USSA Western Cape Football title in 2020
- Won the Varsity Football championship in 2021
- Finished third in the Sasol League in 2022
Future Plans
UWC Ladies Football Club is looking to continue their success in the years to come. The team is hoping to win the USSA national title in 2023, and they are also hoping to qualify for the CAF Women's Champions League.
The team is also committed to developing young female soccer players. They offer a variety of youth programs, and they are working to create a sustainable pathway for female soccer players in South Africa.
