Acorn Charity Invitation Shield

Acorn Village provides homes, support and a range of activities for adults with learning disabilities. The shield has become one of the ways local football clubs and supporters contribute to that wider community cause.

A local invitational cup

The competition has a long association with clubs in the Essex and Suffolk border area. Recent finals have involved sides such as Wormingford Wanderers and Boxford Rovers, while earlier editions featured teams from the local senior and reserve-game network.

It is separate from a club's normal league programme: teams are invited into a short knockout competition, with the final staged at a host venue. The competition is also recorded through FA Full-Time, where live information should be checked.
