Evo-Stik Southern was a sponsored name used by the Southern Football League. The historic title is still familiar to many supporters and clubs, but the competition is now presented simply as the Southern League, currently sponsored as the Pitching In Southern League.
The Southern League is one of the three major competitions operating at Steps 3 and 4 of the men’s National League Pyramid, alongside the Isthmian League and Northern Premier League. It is a semi-professional part of the English non-League game, linking regional football with the levels immediately below the National League.
The league’s current structure has four divisions: Premier Central, Premier South, Division One Central and Division One South. The Premier divisions operate at Step 3, with the Division One competitions at Step 4. This structure gives clubs a clear place within the national pyramid while retaining regional divisions at the level below the Premier sections.
Clubs are allocated through the National League Pyramid system rather than permanently fixed league boundaries. Promotions, relegations and occasional lateral movements are managed by The FA’s pyramid process, so the annual club line-up and exact geographical footprint can change.
For supporters, players and volunteers, the Southern League’s official channels provide the most reliable route to current club allocations, fixtures, results, tables and league news. The former Evo-Stik name is best understood as part of the league’s sponsorship history, not as a separate current competition.
