Gwynedd League

The Gwynedd League was an amateur football league in north-west Wales. It was formed in 1960 and folded in 2020 due to a reorganisation of the Welsh football league pyramid.

History

The Gwynedd League was founded in 1960 as the North Wales Coast League. It was renamed the Gwynedd League in 1984. The league consisted of two divisions, the Premier Division and the First Division. The top team in the Premier Division was promoted to the Welsh Alliance League, while the bottom team in the Premier Division was relegated to the First Division. The top two teams in the First Division were promoted to the Premier Division, while the bottom two teams in the First Division were relegated to the Gwynedd League Reserve Division.

Gwynedd League action

The Gwynedd League was a popular league with a number of well-supported clubs. Some of the most successful clubs in the league's history include Bangor City, Caernarfon Town, and Holyhead Hotspur.

Dissolution

The Gwynedd League folded in 2020 due to a reorganisation of the Welsh football league pyramid. The league was merged with the Welsh Alliance League to form the new Cymru North 2.
