Liga V-a
Liga V-a is the fifth tier of the Romanian football league system. It is organized by the 42 county football associations in Romania.
Competition format
The competition is divided into 42 regional leagues, each with 12 to 16 teams. The teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each league are promoted to Liga IV, and the bottom two teams are relegated to Liga VI.
History
Liga V-a was first introduced in 1968 as the third tier of the Romanian football league system. It was renamed to Liga V in 1990, and to Liga V-a in 2006.
