About Manchester League

Introduction

The Manchester League is an amateur football league in Greater Manchester, England. It is currently in its 129th season, and is affiliated to the Football Association. The league consists of six divisions, with a total of 64 clubs.

The league was founded in 1893, and has been played continuously since then. The current champions are Denton Town, who won the Premier Division in the 2022-23 season.

The league is known for its competitive nature, and has produced a number of professional footballers, including Paul Scholes, who played for Manchester United and England.

Divisions

The Manchester League consists of the following divisions:
  • Premier Division
  • Division One
  • Division Two
  • Division Three
  • Division Four
  • Development Division

The Premier Division is the top division in the league, and is followed by Division One, Division Two, and so on. The Development Division is for teams that are new to the league, or that are in transition.

Cup competitions

The Manchester League also organizes a number of cup competitions, including:
  • The Norman Noden Cup
  • The Terry Wood Cup
  • The Joe Kennedy Cup
  • The John Old Cup
  • The Memorial Cup

These cup competitions are open to all teams in the league, and provide an opportunity for teams to win silverware.
